5754 is an aluminium alloy with magnesium as the primary alloying element. It has good formability when in the fully soft, annealed temper and can be work-hardened to very high strength levels.
The material EN AW-5754 shows high mechanical properties among the non-heat treatable aluminium alloys and demonstrates excellent atmospheric and seawater corrosion resistance. The material has good weldability and is used in marine and offshore applications. EN AW-5754 is not heat treatable and as an anodizing quality material, it is suitable for decorative anodizing.
Corrosion Resistance: The Mg content (2.6-3.6%) makes 5754 ideal for humid/corrosive environments, but avoid direct contact with copper/iron to prevent galvanic corrosion.
Weldability: Suitable for TIG/MIG welding (recommended filler: 5356).
Alternatives: For higher strength, consider 5083; for lower cost (non-critical corrosion resistance), 5052 is an option.
