5454 Aluminum Alloy is a wrought aluminum-magnesium alloy from the 5000 series, closely related to 5154 Aluminum Alloy. This aluminum-magnesium combination delivers moderate-to-high strength with exceptional weldability. Commonly used in welded structures like pressure vessels and ships, 5454 aluminum can be formed by rolling and extrusion processes (though forging is less common), but is not suitable for casting. The material can be cold worked to produce tempers with higher strength and reduced ductility.
Aluminum tanker trailers are specifically designed for transporting petrochemical products including diesel, gasoline, kerosene, methanol, and ethanol. Their lightweight construction, with mass as low as 6 tons, allows for increased payload capacity. The aluminum construction eliminates the need for anti-rust treatment and prevents rust residue contamination, while providing environmentally friendly material benefits.
Aluminum tanker trailers deliver superior fuel economy compared to alternative materials due to their reduced weight. According to European Aluminum Association research, 0.6L of gasoline can be saved per ton over 10km. For an aluminum tanker traveling 12,000km annually with 5 tons less dead weight than steel tanks, this translates to at least 1,800L of fuel savings per year.
